Radiant Panel Flame Spread Tester, ASTM E162
The radiant panel flame Spread tester tests the surface flammability of building materials (ASTM E162) and Styrofoam (ASTM D3675) using a gas thermal radiant panel.
The test results are flame spread index, which is determined by flame spread and heat emission. The index is a required parameter in many industry specifications, especially in the public transport (train and bus) industry.
1. Porous ceramic gas radiant plate is 12*18in (305*457mm), silicon carbide igniter ignition;
2. Stainless steel sample fixing frame, with observation point every 3 inches, used to observe the flame front spread;
3. Stainless steel sample holder;
4. Stainless steel ignition device;
5. Pyrometer, measuring the surface temperature of radiation plate, including bracket;
6. Airflow meter, gas control valve, control into the radiation plate gas mixing;
7. Use mass flow controller to adjust methane flow calibration;
8. Stainless steel exhaust pipe with detachable panel for easy cleaning of thermocouple;
9. Exhaust pipe is equipped with 8 thermocouples according to the standard;
10. Verified burner with methane gas flow meter;
11. Gas safety control and circuit cutting device;
12. The blower provides air, the gas volume is stable, Venturi mixed gas and air into the combustion chamber;
13. Adopt analog input module to collect voltage signal of thermocouple;
14. Communication between computer and acquisition module, signal processing.
A:ASTM E162 testing is specified in transportation codes for trains and busses (NFPA 130 and 49 CFR Part 238). ASTM E162 is also specified in Federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards (24 CFR Part 3280) and the Standard for Recreational Vehicles (NFPA 1192).
