BS 6387 Fire-resistant Spraying Test Machine for Wires and Cables

BS 6387 specifies the cable performance standards for keeping the circuit intact in case of fire, which can evaluate the fire resistance performance of cables. It should be emphasized that the fire resistance test can neither cause fire nor ensure the results of fire resistance test only to ensure safety. These only provide data to evaluate whether the cable conforms to the given application. Generally, the fire resistance spray test device for wires and cables is used for testing.

Why circuit integrity testing?

Whether the cable can maintain the integrity of the circuit is very important for the fire safety system, such as emergency lighting equipment. BS 6387 is the test standard for cable fire resistance, water fire resistance, mechanical shock resistance and fire resistance.

BS 6387 Test method:

Fire resistance test:

Fire resistance test can be divided into A/B/C/S. Class A is able to burn for 3 hours without breakdown at 650 ℃, Class B is able to burn for 3 hours without breakdown at 750 ℃, Class C is able to burn for 3 hours without breakdown at 950 ℃, and Class S is able to burn for 20 minutes without breakdown at 950 ℃.

Water fire resistance test:

Category W: Under the temperature of 650 ℃, the flame will burn for 15 minutes and the water jet will burn for 15 minutes without breakdown.

Mechanical shock and fire resistance test:

It can be divided into X/Y/Z. Type X is at 650 ℃ for 15 minutes. Type Y is at 750 ℃ for 15 minutes. Class Z is at 950 ℃ for 15 minutes.
